With support from the International College and the Office of International Affairs, the NPUST Indian Students Association held a grand Diwali cultural celebration on October 27 (2025). Continuing the fine tradition established in 2021, the event drew approximately 225 participants, including international and local students, faculty members, and distinguished guests from outside the school. Diwali—also known as the “Festival of Lights”—symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil, and its annual celebration at NPUST brings a vibrant Indian cultural atmosphere to the campus, creating times of joy, unity, and multicultural inclusion.
In his opening remarks at the event, Vice President for Education Affairs, Shang-Min Ma, noted that the university possesses a highly internationalized campus environment. He reflected on the Diwali celebration and deeply meaningful cultural exchange, pointing out that it is not only a showcasing of the unique characteristics of Indian culture but also a vital platform for interaction between international and local students and for deepening friendships. The ceremony proceeded with a traditional lamp-lighting ritual symbolizing blessing and hope, followed by a captivating welcoming dance and a documentary screening to help guests understand the spiritual and cultural significance of the festival.
The event featured a diverse lineup of cultural performances, including a cello recital, Caribbean dance, Pakistani cultural showcasing, Indonesian traditional dance, Indian musical performances, Vietnamese songs, and a multicultural fashion show representing various nations.
The event concluded with high praise from attendees, reinforcing NPUST’s reputation as a leading institution for internationalization and inclusive education. By bringing the “warmth of India” to campus, the Indian Students Association has once again highlighted the beauty of the university’s diverse community.
