NPUST Awarded by Ministry of Education for Outstanding Overseas Student Guidance

National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) is an avid promoter of internationalization on campus, and continuously works to develop diversified interaction between its local and foreign students. Playing a key role in this effort, the university’s Office International Affairs works tirelessly to promote international exchange and cooperation, and help turn the campus into a little global village. Coming from all over the world, international students at NPUST are given access to a solid education and as well as many opportunities for practical training. Meanwhile they are also able to enrich their study life in Taiwan by experiencing the local customs and culture of Taiwan.

Thanks to the efforts of the school’s administration in these areas, NPUST was chosen to receive the Ministry of Education “2024 Outstanding College and University Overseas Student Guidance Award”. The award was presented on December 12th the during the 2024 Global Education Leadership Conference for Higher Education Executives which was held at the Grand Mayfull Hotel in Taipei. Vice-Dean Yuh Tzean of the NPUST Office of International Affairs attended the ceremony to receive the award on behalf of the school. Among the four universities which received the award this year, NPUST was the only technical university and the only located in Southern Taiwan. At the same event, outstanding overseas student guidance personnel were also commended, including Eason Ku, a full-time Project Assistant at the NPUST Office of International Affairs Office who has a consistent track-record of handling overseas student-related matters in a conscientious, responsible and enthusiastic manner. In recognition of his fine work, he was named this year’s “Outstanding Senior Personnel”.

NPUST established its Office International Affairs at NPUST 2004. In addition to the work it does to promote international exchange and cooperation, it also provides all-round attention and care for the overseas students studying at the school, and helps to create an excellent and comfortable learning environment for those who have come from afar to study at NPUST. Also winning in 2015 and 2021, this year was the third time that NPUST was chosen by the Ministry of Education to receive “Outstanding College and University Overseas Student Guidance Award”. Currently, there are round 600 overseas students from over 40 countries studying at NPUST, and in order to them relax on campus and get involved in exchanges, the Office International Affairs regularly organizes a variety of cultural activities and lectures designed to enhance interaction between international and local students. Occasions such as “International Cultural Day” allow students to experience food, games and traditions from different cultures and enjoy dance performances and other activities put on by students from countries around the world. Such events help enhance the schools multicultural spirit, while also allowing overseas students to feel at ease and enjoy their time studying in Taiwan.
