On September 18, 2024, a delegation from the Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) at Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia, visited National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) to explore opportunities for deeper academic cooperation. The visit, part of the “DOKAR UB 2024” program, aims to foster mutual growth through a range of joint initiatives.
The potential areas for collaboration between the two institutions include:
- Double Degree Programs for Master’s students in Animal Science and Agribusiness;
- Exchange of faculty members and students;
- Sharing of academic literature and information;
- Collaborative research and internship programs;
- Joint publications and organization of international conferences;
- Other mutually agreed upon activities.

Visits to NPUST Departments:
First Stop: Department of Animal Science
The delegation’s first visit was to the Department of Animal Science, where Chairman Prof. Dr. Perng-Chih Shen and faculty members welcomed the guests. Discussions centered around potential collaboration in areas such as joint research related to livestock disease. Afterward, the delegation toured NPUST’s livestock farm, which is a practical training site for students.
Second Stop: Department of Tropical Agriculture and International Cooperation (DTAIC)
At the Department of Tropical Agriculture and International Cooperation, the Chairman, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rebecca H. Chung, signed a Memorandum of Agreement and an Implementation Arrangement between DTAIC and FAS. The agreement will facilitate collaborative efforts in academic programs, including Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in Animal Science at Universitas Brawijaya. Dr. Chung and her team discussed further steps for partnership with the delegation.
Third Stop: Department of Agribusiness Management (ABM)
The final stop was the Department of Agribusiness Management, where the delegation met with Chairman Prof. Dr. Yessica C.Y. Chung and faculty member Prof. Dr. Wen-Chi Huang. On behalf of ABM, Prof. Dr. Yessica Chung signed a Memorandum of Agreement, marking the start of a formal collaboration between the two departments.
This visit highlights the shared commitment of both NPUST and Universitas Brawijaya to advancing academic excellence and fostering collaborative efforts in the fields of animal science and agribusiness, paving the way for future joint endeavors that will benefit both institutions and their students.
